A Tesla driver on Monday was forced to cancel a trip to Florida after the company offered him a free ride to his home on a Tesla Model X SUV.
Geico car insurer Progressive Insurance, which is the largest car insurance company in the U.S., has announced that it is offering the Model S and Model X vehicles free for customers who pay up to $40 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The offer is only valid for customers with a car insurance policy that covers at least $50,000, but Progressive also has plans for customers that have a policy covering more than $100,000.
According to the Times, customers will be able to choose from three different car options: a Tesla, a Lexus, or a Lexicon.
When you register with Progressive, you will have to choose your policy from the three vehicles, which means it will not be able do anything like the auto insurance companies that have the most to gain from a Tesla owner opting for a free trip to the beach, according the Times.
Progressive Insurance is not the only company offering the Tesla Model Y for customers to choose.
As for the other cars offered, Progressive said that they will have “more options for customers looking to expand their coverage or save money.”
If you’re interested in a free vacation to the beaches with Tesla, check out the free trip, the company said.
In case you’re not convinced, check this out: The deal is only available to Tesla owners, but there is some overlap with Progressive’s offering, which covers at-least $50 million of car insurance.
A Tesla Model 3 is the first model with a removable roof, so if you’re planning on taking one for a road trip, you’ll have to do it on the regular.
